THE PEACE
Minister: The Peace of the Lord be, always, with you!
All: And also with you.
b. Each person
is invited to greet those around saying, for example, “Peace of the Lord be
with you!”
c. THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD (MANUAL ACTS)
The Minister breaks the bread in the
sight of the people, in silence or saying:
The bread,
which we break, is the communion of the body of Christ; the cup of blessing for
which we give thanks is the communion in the blood of Christ.
All: Though we are many we are one body because we all share
in the one loaf and drink from one cup.
d. THE SHARING OF THE BREAD AND WINE
All
seated, this prayer of Humble Access may be said by all;
Lord, we
come to Your table trusting in Your mercy and not in any goodness of our own we
are not worthy even to gather up the crumbs under Your table, but it is Your
nature always to have mercy, and on that we depend. So feed us with the body,
and blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son, that we may forever live in him and he in
us. Amen.
e. THEN SHALL ALL JOIN IN THE LORD’S
PRAYER
f. THE
MINISTER MAY SAY THESE OR OTHER WORDS OF INVITATION:
Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord
Jesus Christ, which was given for you, and his blood, which was shed for you;
and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
g. THE BREAD AND WINE ARE GIVEN EITHER
WITH THESE WORDS:
The body of Christ given to
you, the body of Christ shed for you Or
With these words: The body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for you
keep you in eternal life. Take and eat this in remembrance that Christ died for
you, and feed on Him in your heart by faith, with thanksgiving. The blood of
our Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for you, keep you in eternal life.Drink
this in remembrance that Christ’s blood was shed for you, and be thankful.
h. The
Communicant may reply each time. Amen.
