PURPOSE OF GATHERING
We meet in this
solemn moment to worship God; to give thanks for the life of our sister and mother,
Mrs. Victoria Olamide Williams and
to commend her into the hands of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father. In the presence of death, Christ offers us
sure ground for hope and confidence, and even joy, because He shared our human
life and death; He was raised again triumphantly and lives for evermore. In Him, His people find eternal life. Let us then in humble trust, hear the words
of the Holy Scripture, that from them we may draw comfort and strength.
3. PRAYERS (Let us pray)
Eternal God, the Lord
of life, the conqueror of death, our help in every time of trouble, who does
not willingly grieve or afflict the children of men; comfort us who mourn, and
give us grace in the presence of death, to worship You, that we may have sure hope
of eternal life and be able to put our whole trust in Your goodness and mercy,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Heavenly Father,
whose love is everlasting, help us now to turn to You with reverent and
submissive hearts that through the steadfastness and encouragement that the
Scripture brings, we may hope and be lifted above our distress into the light
and peace of your presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, our
refuge and strength, You have given us a High Priest who understands our human
weakness. Help us therefore to trust in
him and with confidence come to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy
and find grace in time of need, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
