The Peace
Minister: The Peace of the Lord be, always, with you!
All: And also with you
Each person is invited to greet those around
saying, for example, “Peace of the Lord be with you!”
The Breaking of the Bread (Manual Acts)
The Minister breaks the bread in the sight of the people, in silence or
saying:
The bread, which we break, is the communion of the body of Christ; the
cup of blessing for which we give thanks is the communion in the blood of
Christ.
All: Though we are many
we are one body because we all share in the one loaf and drink from one cup.
The Sharing of the
Bread and Wine
All seated, this prayer of Humble Access may
be said by all;
Lord, we come to Your table trusting in Your mercy and not in any
goodness of our own we are not worthy even to gather up the crumbs under Your
table, but it is Your nature always to have mercy, and on that we depend. So feed us with the body, and blood of Jesus
Christ, Your Son, that we may forever live in him and he in us. Amen.
Then shall all join in
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our
daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save
us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
The Minister may say
these or other words of invitation:
Draw near with faith. Receive
the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for you, and his blood, which
was shed for you; and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.
The Bread and Wine are
given either with these words:
The body of
Christ given to you, the body of Christ shed for you OR with these words: The
body of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was given for you keep you in eternal
life. Take and eat this in remembrance
that Christ died for you, and feed on Him in your heart by faith, with
thanksgiving. The blood of our Lord
Jesus Christ, which was shed for you, keep you in eternal life. Drink this in
remembrance that Christ’s blood was shed for you, and be thankful.
The Communicant may reply each
time. Amen.
The Minister covers what remains of the elements with a
white cloth.
