BOYS ENROLMENT / INDUCTION OF NEW PATRONS

BOYS ENROLMENT CAPTAIN: Our Father in the Lord, I present to you Boys who are to be enrolled and rededicated as members of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, for declaration. CHAPLAIN: Boys recite the Object of The Boys' Brigade. BOYS: The Object of The Boys' Brigade is the advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the Promotion of Habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness. CHAPLAIN: You Boys who desire to be enrolled as members of The Boys' Brigade, Nigeria, 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, do you promise to do your utmost best and to obey the rules and regulations and always set an example of good conduct to your comrades, friends and Others? BOYS: I will, God being my helper CHAPLAIN: I welcome and receive you into the fold of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos. May Jesus Christ the Captain of your Salvation give you strength to be faithful to duty, loyal to your comrade, strong in time of temptation and be His faithful servant always. May God grant you the grace to be faithful to your trust and crown your work with success. BOYS: Amen. (The Chaplain shakes hands with them) v. INDUCTION OF NEW PATRON(S) CAPTAIN: Sir, I present to you these persons to be inducted as Patrons of 2nd Lagos Company attached to this Church for induction CHAPLAIN: Christian Brothers having been honoured with this position of Patrons of the 2nd Lagos Company attached to this Church. Do you promise to do your utmost best in helping the Brigade and her members in every way possible in furthering the Object of The Boys’ Brigade? PATRON: I do, God being my helper. CHAPLIAN: Do promise to pray always for the Boys, Officers, Captain and other members of the Brigade? PATRON: I do, God being my helper. CHAPLAIN: I hereby induct you into as Patrons of the 2nd Lagos Company attached to this Church in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. PATRON : Amen. (They are decorated with accessories and kneels for prayers) vi. DECLARATION BY FATHER, PATRONS/PATRONESSES & HONOURARY OFFICERS CAPTAIN: Our Father in the Lord, I present to you Patrons/Patroness and Honorary Officers of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos for declaration CHAPLAIN: Christian Brothers and Sisters, having been honored as Patrons, Patronesses and Honorary Officers, of The Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, do you renew your undertaking, God helping you, to support the Company Spiritually, Morally and Financially, helping and encouraging the Officers and Boys in every way possible in their task of advancing Christ’s Kingdom always, which is the Brigade noble objective? RESPONSE: I will, God being my helper CHAPLAIN: May God grant you the grace to be faithful your trust and crown your with success. RESPONSE: Amen CHAPLAIN: Let us then dedicate ourselves to the Almighty God (Dedicatory Prayer to be said by Chaplain, Patrons/Patroness and Honorary Officers) ALL: We come Lord Jesus to renew our pledge of loyalty to Thee and to one another. Make us ashamed of all that is false in our lives. Share with us Thy love of whatever is true and honourable, and Thy courage for fighting for it. Teach us how to be strong and yet gentle and thoughtful. Help us to dedicate to Thee our bodies and minds. Let Thy Spirit ever dwell in our hearts and mind. Show us how to carry into homes and schools, into works and play, all that we most prize in the comradeship of this Company and all that we learn of Thy constant love nearest to us and Thy unfailing friendship with us Thy Children. May we joyously, praise Thee not only with our lips but also with our lives through Jesus Christ our Amen (The Patrons/Patronesses and Honorary Officers are decorated and the Chaplain shakes hand with them)
