O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISE / OFFICER'S DECLARATION

INSTALLATION HYMN (To be sang by the Captain alone) CAPTAIN: 1. O Jesus, I have promise 2. Oh, let me feel Thee near me, To serve Thee to the end; The world is ever near Be Thou for ever near me, I see the sight that dazzle My master and my friend; The tempting sounds I hear I shall not fear the battle, My foes are ever near me, If Thou art by side, Around me and within; Nor wander from the pathway But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, If Thou wilt be my Guide. And shield my soul from sin. BATTALION CHAIRMAN: (To the Captain) Shyllon Adeyinka having been appointed by the Church Authority according to your bidding, and duly installed as Captain, will from henceforth continue to enjoy full right and privileges like other Captains. He cannot be removed summarily without reference to the Battalion Council unless for misappropriation of funds, immorality, involvement in criminal cases, ceases to be a Christian and for any other reason as may be noticed by the Church. He now takes his seat among Captains at all forum of The Boys’ Brigade, Battalion, State, National and International Councils in accordance with constitution of The Boys’ Brigade. He is the authorized link between the Church and the Councils. Therefore, all transaction should be channeled through him to all Boys’ Brigade Governing bodies. (To the Congregation) The task of managing human being is the most difficult and The Boys’ Brigade is yours. We therefore solicit your full support for him in nurturing the young ones committed to his care. Remember him always in your prayers. May the rule, direct and uphold him for Christ sake. OFFICER’S DECLARATION CAPTAIN: Our Father in the Lord, I present to you Officers of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos for declaration. CHAPLAIN: Captain, Lieutenants and Warrant Officers of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, realizing your responsibilities as Officers, do you renew you undertaking to do all in your power to serve God in furthering the Object of the Boys' Brigade? OFFICERS: I hereby promise to serve God in furthering the Object of The Boys’ Brigade which is the advancement of Christ Kingdom among Boys and the Promotion of Habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness. CHAPLAIN: I welcome and receive you into the fold of the 2nd Lagos Company of The Boys' Brigade attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos. May Jesus Christ the Captain of your salvation give you strength to be faithful to duty, loyal to your comrade, strong in time of temptation and be His faithful servant always. May God grant you the grace to be faithful to your trust and crown your work with success.
