INSTALLATION OF CAPTAIN (Captains and Officers form guard of honour while the Captain is marched to the altar by a Secretary) Declaration of Non-Membership/Renunciation secret cult to be taken by the Captain: I, Shyllon Adeyinka, of the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria 2nd Lagos Company do hereby confirm and solemnly declare before God and the Congregation of God’s people here present that: 1. I do not belong to any secret society or cult. 2. I will not under any circumstances, accept the membership of any secret society or cult all the days of my life. 3. I will not partake or be involved, directly or indirectly, in the activities of any secret society or cult. 4. I join The Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria, Lagos Battalion Council in particular, in denouncing membership of any secret society or cult. 5. I will join hands with the Organization in the crusade against secret society or cults and their activities, most especially among the youths. 6. I whole heartedly join The Boys’ Brigade to renounce any association with or participation in the activities of gay/lesbians or in any way support/promote the activities or be involved in same sex marriage among youths in my society and my community. 7. I join the Church of God to stand against anything that has to do with same sex marriage or their activities. I know and believe that if I am not sincere and honest in this declaration, or take un membership of any secret society or cult or support same sex marriage (gay or lesbianism) after having said this declaration, I will forfeit my office in the Council and The Boys’ Brigade and thereby place myself under the wrath of God in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen This Oath is sworn before God and the Congregation of the people of God this 10th day of November, 2019 BATTALION SECRETARY: Whereas Shyllon Adeyinka was appointed by the Captain 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos by the Leaders Meeting and the communicated to the Lagos Battalion through a letter. Shyllon Adeyinka will you now before this congregation of God’s people signify your intention to accept the appointment? and say before the people of God what you shall do in furthering the Object of the Boys’ Brigade and in making the Company one that will be worthy of emulation, by way of reading out the goals you wish to achieve in your reign as Captain of 2nd Lagos Company. CAPTAIN: I, Shyllon Adeyinka, before this congregation of the people of God, hereby whole heartedly accept my appointment as Captain 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, and shall do my best in furthering the Object of The Boys’ Brigade and in making the Company one that will be worthy of emulation. BATTALION SECRTARY: Shyllon Adeyinka having accepted your appointment as Captain of the 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos, and having spelt out your goals for the Company, it is important for you to know that the Church which appointed you and indeed the Lagos Battalion Council which ratified your appointment shall hold you by the words spoken by you this 10th day of November, 2019. I now invite the Battalion Chairman Sir Oluwatosin Olaniyan, to proceed with the installation procedure/ceremonies. BATTALION CHAIRMAN: Our Father in the Lord by the power conferred on me as the Chairman, Lagos Battalion Council of The Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria. I present to you Shyllon Adeyinka to be installed as the Captain of the 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos. CHAPLAIN: Shyllon Adeyinka, realizing your privilege of presenting the claims of our Lord Jesus Christ to Boys and Young Men in the first formative years of their lives, at times the work will be rewarding and at other times frustrating, nevertheless you have the promise that when God calls one to work, He also equips us for it and He assures that nothing we do for Him is ever lost or wasted. And, realizing the responsibilities involved in your leadership as the Captain of the 2nd Lagos Company attached to Wesley Cathedral, Olowogbowo, Lagos and recognizing your dependence upon God’s strength, would you now give your undertaking to seek God by words and examples, to serve God in furthering the Object of The Boys’ Brigade? CAPTAIN: I, Shyllon Adeyinka hereby promise to serve God in furthering the Object of The Boys’ Brigade, which is the advancement of Christ Kingdom among boys and the Promotion of Habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness. CHAPLAIN: May God grant you the grace to be faithful to your trust and crown your work with success. CAPTAIN: Amen The Chaplain blesses the instrument of office and accessories, and present to the Captain as follows saying: Take your staff of Office, use it to tend your sheep carefully and diligently like Jesus Christ the good shepherd. Take your appointment card, an evidence of your membership of this corporate body advancing Christ’s Kingdom. May the power of Jesus Christ our Captain uphold you. May God give you grace to be faithful to your trust, sure and steadfast in you call and crown your efforts with success in Jesus name. CAPTAIN: Amen
